Frequently Asked Questions by our Melbourne Skip Bin Hire &
Mini Skips Customers!

These are the most common skip bin hire and mini skips questions we are asked by our Melbourne Eastern & Outer Eastern Suburbs customers. We answer the most common questions our customers ask. For more frequently asked questions, see our FAQ page. If you prefer to talk to a real person, just call Wendy on 0417 514 763 now.

  • Q - How long can I hire a skip bin for?

from 2 hours up to 7 days, if you need the skip bin longer, just ask Wendy.

  • Q - How much does it cost to hire a skip bin in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs, Yarra Valley or Yarra Ranges districts?

Skip bin hire prices range from $300 up to $880. Visit our online shop for accurate prices.

  • Q - Does it cost any extra to have the skip bin for 7 days?

No, we don't charge any extra rent for additional days. It's included within our standard prices.

  • Q - How far above the top edge of the skip can I load the junk?

The load must not exceed the top edge or water level of the skip bin. If the load exceeds the height of the skip's top edge, it is overloaded and illegal for road transportation. Visit our "Overloading Skip Bins" page for more info.

  • Q - Can you place the skip bin on the road?

On-road skip bin Placements Require a local council permit. Permits range from $100 to $200 and are valid for 3 to 7 days, depending on the council.

  • Q - Does Eastern Skip Hire deliver skip bins and mini skips on Saturdays or Sundays?

No, we don't usually work weekends. You can always call Wendy to see if we are working.

  • Q - Can I put asbestos cement sheeting or A/C sheets in the skip?
NO. A/C means NO ASBESTOS CEMENT and is extremely dangerous if inhaled!
Asbestos was still being used in small quantities into the 1990s; there are plenty of heater flues, sheeting, house eaves, etc., that are still asbestos. Unless we can see clearly visible layers when the material is broken, it is classed as asbestos.

  • Q - Is blue board and cement sheeting allowed in skip bins?
Yes, the blue board has blue dye, clearly indicating it is asbestos-free! Cement sheeting with clearly visible layers (when broken) is also permitted. However, if there are not multiple layers of around eight layers, it is deemed to be asbestos, and is prohibited in our skip bins! â€‹

  • Q - Can I put paint or weed killer in the skip?

No, see our prohibited waste page for more detailed info. They need to be disposed of properly.
